The International Folklore festival of Sofia “Vitosha” is held every year during July in the capital of Bulgaria-Sofia. In the current 2007 from 14 to 20 of July, the eleventh edition will be held.

Organizators are: Council of Municipality of Sofia, Municipality of Sofia-Administration “Culture and Education”, Vitosha district, Cultural club “Vitosha” with the support of the Ministry of Culture.

The festival has been approved as the most important and popular folklore event in the cultural calendar of the capital. Its specific way of organization allows an extremely wide range of people to watch it free of charge at the open scenes in the whole town, and the accent is placed on the performance of the groups on the scenes at the Battenberg square and Vitosha district. The opening of the festival is especially attractive and represents a manifestation from the National Palace of Culture trough the pedestrian zone of boulevard “Vitosha” to the Battenberg square. The closing will be held at the Battenberg square. For the whole ten years the festival being held on the stages have performed over 100 ensembles from all continents.
